Principal’s Message
Dear Parents
As we come to the end of the school year, it is amazing to reflect on how far the children have come and how much they have grown since August. With only a few weeks few in the school year, we would like to remind parents to sign-up for your last chance as a parent volunteer this academic year. Please sign-up HERE.
Of course, with graduation just around the corner, the K2 children have been working hard to learn new songs and prepare for their ceremony next week. Please see the schedule below for details, and free feel to contact us for any clarification.
For all the K2 families moving onto Y1 and any K1 families leaving Hillside, please do take revisit and download your child’s ePortfolio. Please spend some time together with your child to look through all the work they have done over the year and let them tell you all about it. There is a download button (document icon) on the right-hand side that allows you to download the entire ePortfolio as a PDF. You can access your child’s ePortfolio HERE.
Year 1 ESF primary admissions (for the 2018/19 academic year)
We will facilitate an information session for kindergarten parents to explain the ESF Year 1 Application and Admissions Process. This will take place at ESF Centre (25/F Fortis Centre, 1063 King’s Road, Quarry Bay) on Wednesday 30th of August 2017, from 6-7.30pm.
The ESF application lodging period takes place between the 1st and 30th September each year. For further information on the current process, you can visit the ESF website. http://www.esf.edu.hk/policy2013/
Hillside K2 Leavers’ Ceremony
One of the highlights of Term 3 is always our K2 Leavers Ceremony. The date set for your child’s K2 class Leavers Ceremony can be found below. Further details regarding this event will follow closer to the date.
K2 Leaving Celebration arrangements
(Monday 12th – Thursday 15th June 2017)
4.00-5.00pm
- All K2 Leaving Ceremonies will take place at ESF Hillside International Kindergarten, 43B Stubbs Road, Hong Kong
- Your child’s class-based Leaver’s Celebration will commence at 4:00pm sharp on your allocated day (see table below). It is anticipated that the Graduation Ceremony for your child will conclude by 5:00pm.
- Please note that children in the PM class will stay on at school and will be supervised by the class teacher until the arrival of parents at around 3:55pm.
- Children in an AM class will need to arrive at Hillside Kindergarten with their parents just before 4:00pm.
- All children will be required to wear the Hillside Uniform for this event.
- Due to space and seating limitations, it would be appreciated if each child is accompanied by only (2) adult family members for this event.
- Please be reminded that we are unable to provide parking.
The K2 Leaver’s Celebration Ceremonies will commence at 4:00pm and should conclude by around 5:00pm

Payment of advance fees for returning children
For current K1 children returning in K2, you should have received an email outlining the details of payment for advance fees. The advance fees will be debited from your designated bank account on 1 August 2017 and will be used to offset September 2017 school fees. If there is a revision of fees in the next academic year, the difference will be payable in September 2017.
Please note that your child’s school place will not be confirmed if we do not receive your advance fees before the payment due date or if there are any outstanding tuition fees on account at the beginning of the next academic year. A NEW WEBSITE for Hillside!
Our new website is up!
As part of the Foundation’s Goal to be a strong and unified ‘One ESF’, Hillside International Kindergarten has launched a new website today. The website is designed to have the same look, feel and functionality as all of the other schools that operate under the ESF Umbrella. The domain name for the website has also been changed to be in line with ESF. The new website address for Hillside is http://hillside.edu.hk
An example of what can be found on the Hillside website includes recent newsletters, announcements, links to VLE (ePortfolio and class blogs), general information, school calendar special events, etc.
Creating and populating a new website is a huge amount of work and I would like to say a huge thank you to Hillside’s Vice Principal (VP), Audrey Tang, for her outstanding dedication to undertaking all aspects of this project and for using a great deal of her own personal time to create this new website for Hillside. We are so lucky to have Audrey as our VP at Hillside and I for one would like to thank her again for her commitment ensuring that Hillside is successful in all we do.
