Dear Parents
WOW……where did that term go. I can’t believe how quickly the time seems to go when you work with young children in the Education sector. I am pleased to report that we have had another very busy and successful term at Hillside. It is always such a joy to view both the K1 and the k2 children’s growth in self – confidence as the term progressed. What makes all the difference is our philosophy and commitment to having every child engaged in a high-quality play-based inquiry-driven programme. It’s important that we always remain committed to achieving both our school and Foundation-wide Vision……For every student to be the best that they can be!!.
When we return to school after the Easter break on Monday 16 April, the reality is we only have about eleven weeks left of school!!! Somehow (and I don’t always know how we do it) we always manage to fit everything in, ensuring we deliver both a strong educational program and also manage to have some great fun along the way. Wishing you and your family a very enjoyable and safe Easter holiday.
Hillside International Kindergarten – ESF Stakeholder Survey Results 2018 *Summary of Results
We have just received our results from the recently conducted ESF Stakeholder 2018 survey for Hillside. Please see a summary of the results for Hillside below for your information. We are again thrilled with our results and are proud to have a 100% response rate for all Hillside staff, in addition to a very healthy parent response rate. I am particularly pleased with my team’s effort in delivering the PYP, ensuring that the children enjoy Kindergarten and are making good progress. A further strength identified is that of communication across the Kindergarten.
We have improved on the excellent results we achieved two years ago when undertaking the stakeholder survey. Even though these results are very pleasing, my team and I are committed to the process of continuous improvement. We want to continue be the recognized as a ‘Centre of Excellence for Early Years Education’ not only in Hong Kong but also across the entire Asia Pacific Region. Thank you again to all the Hillside parents and staff that took the time to complete this survey.
Latest Unit Report
TThe latest Unit of Inquiry report (for both K1 and K2) will be available for parents to access on Gateway. To access your child’s report:
- Please log into Gateway https://hs.tg.esf.edu.hk to access your child’s report. If you forgot your login details please use the “forgot password or login name” function. Gateway will send you an email for resetting password shortly.
- Once you’ve logged in, select ‘ARR Report‘ on the main screen. (Please see Screenshot 3 below)
- Select the relevant report template. This will create a PDF file that you can save as a soft copy or print out if you wish. If you have more than one child, select the appropriate child in the top left corner.

Hillside K2 Leavers’ Ceremony – SAVE THE DATE!!!
One of the highlights of Term 3 is always our K2 Leavers Ceremony. The date set for your child’s K2 class Leavers Ceremony can be found below. Further details regarding this event will follow closer to the date.

Parent-Teachers Consultations (PTC) are coming up, you will need to login to your Gateway account to book your appointment. The online sign-up will be available AFTER Easter break from Monday 16 April and will close on the Friday prior to your week of PTCs. Please follow the instructions HERE on how to make a booking.
Please note classes will continue as per normal throughout the PTC weeks. The appointments are about 10-15 minutes long for each child. Please appreciate that these are the dates when we have arranged cover for teachers and we would like to keep to them as much as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 2540-0066.

K1 Leavers – Withdrawal Notice
If your child is currently in K1 and you have decided that your child will not be continuing at Hillside for K2, it would be appreciated if you could let us know as soon as possible to assist us with our planning. Please submit a completed Withdrawal Notice Form (available HERE) to the kindergarten at least two months prior to your child’s last day of school. The debenture will not be redeemed without the two-month advance notice of withdrawal. It is the parents’ responsibility to confirm with individual kindergartens the receipt of the Withdrawal Notice Form.

For K2 students who are graduating by the end of June, there is no need to submit the withdrawal notice and the debenture certificate.
